Mini-moons are perfect especially for couples that have to pay for their wedding and or honeymoon without the help from family.

No matter how near or far you travel, you’re going to find that you’ll just be content being with your new Husband/Wife. Don’t feel pressured towards a big trip. Having a cozy staycation at home can be very relaxing, especially after the craziness of wedding planning.

A typical mini moon lasts about 3-4 days—basically a long weekend – just get out of your usual space.

It is a long weekend of luxury that is usually close to home, but far enough away so you feel like you are taking a break from the rat race.

You are moving into a new home together

Getting your first home ready together can be a very exciting and fun time but is also a lot of work; almost as demanding as wedding planning. Take time after the big day to settle in and make your home feel like, well, home.

You are short on funds

by waiting a couple of months and building up the honeymoon fund we were able to enjoy more activities than we would have otherwise. Save up and when you do go on your honeymoon you won’t be strapped for cash.

You are planning a wedding in eight months or less

If you have a short engagement, planning a honeymoon can just add to the number of things that you need to check off your list. Short engagements are a testament to the survival of the fittest. Don’t add more to your plate. You can plan big picture honeymoon details before the wedding, especially if you plan on creating a honeymoon registry, but wait until after the wedding to book tickets, make reservations and set up excursions.

Set a realistic budget. – Prioritize what things you want to do and what things you don’t need to fit into your trip. Then, apply your wants to your budget.

Forget planes. – Honeymoons typically involve a flight. Your mini-moon really shouldn’t (of course, it can, but that’s dependant on your budget and timeline). Instead, choose a destination that you can reach by bus, train, or car. It’s cheaper and sometimes much less stressful than flying.

Treat yourself.

Unplug. – Since your mini-moon is most likely simpler and shorter than a honeymoon, don’t forget to really stay present in the moment. Unplug! Delete your social media apps! Let your family and friends know you’ll be unavailable for a few days. Tune out and relish in your newlywed life.
