KRIDZIL’S FAVOURITE CHOC-CARAMEL SQUARE RECIPE

Chocolate Caramel Squares

Calories don’t count on weekends, your birthday, special days, when on holiday or when you make Kridzil’s Choc-Caramel Square Recipe. With that established, we would like to share this awesome “chocolatey-caramelly-yumminess” with you.

What You Need:

1 cup of all-purpose flour

1/2 cup of brown sugar; and

1/4 cup of brown sugar

1/4 cup of salted butter; and

1/3 cup of salted butter

1/2 cup of chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate bits)

How To Make the Yumminess:

1. Pre-heat the oven to 180 °C. Spray a 20 x 20 cm (8 x 8 inch) ovenproof dish (preferably glass), with non-stick spray. This will save you some time later.

2. In a mixing bowl, add the flour, ½ cup of brown sugar and ¼ cup of butter. Use two forks to combine – until the mixture becomes crumbly. Then press the crumbly mixture into the ovenproof pan/dish.

3. Over medium heat, melt 1/3 cup of butter in a small saucepan. Add the ¼ cup of brown sugar to the melted butter and stir. Bring the mixture to a boil and boil for about a minute. Remove from the heat and pour over crumb crust. Place in oven and bake for 15 minutes (not too much or you’ll make toffee bars!).

4. Remove from the oven. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top of the caramel and swirl gently with a sosatie stick or thin knife. Once cooled completely – cut into bars and enjoy!
